Girls Varsity Golf - 2018
At the season-ending league invitational last Thursday, the Broncos finished a solid 4th with a score of 392, besting Allendale, West Catholic, Sparta and Comstock Park in the OK Blue. Winning the tournament and the league championship was Northpointe Christian with a score of 366, they were followed by Spring Lake with a score of 372 and Catholic Central with a score of 385.
Leading the way for the Broncos was sophomore Alexa Davis who capped off an All-Conference campaign with a 2nd place 87. Junior Sophia Baker was 12th overall with a score of 97, earning her an Honorable Mention All-Conference mention. Also scoring for Coopersville were senior Sadie Brink with a score of 102 and junior Sydney Eskola with a score of 106.
The Broncos will compete in the regional tournament Thursday October 11th at Stonegate Golf Club in Muskegon.
The girls golf team played at Western Greens in the 6th league jamboree of the season. The Broncos finished in 1st place!!!! Coopersville's score of 178 was 1 stroke better than Grand Rapids Catholic, Northpointe Christian, and Spring Lake. Leading the way for the Broncos was sophomore Alexa Davis with a 41. She was followed by junior Sophia Baker with a 43. Sophomore Claire Hammond shot a career best 45 and sophomore Mara Lauer also scored 49 to top the scoring for the Broncos. This moves Coopersville into 4th place overall in a very tight league race.
The girls golf team traveled to the Mines Golf course to play in the 5th league jamboree. They finished in 5th place with a score of 191, 13 strokes behind first place Spring Lake. Leading the way for the Broncos was Alexa Davis with a 43. She was followed by Mara Lauer with a career best 48. Sophia Baker and Rylie Camp completed the scoring each shooting 50.
Today at Scott Lake, the girls golf team turned in a stellar round of 177, good for 5th overall in a very good night for the league. Northpointe Christian took top honors on the night with a 165, followed by West Catholic with 170, Catholic Central with 171 and Spring Lake with 172.
Leading the way for the Broncos was Sophia Baker as she tied a school record with a score of 37! She was closely followed by Alexa Davis who shot a career best 39. Rounding out the scoring for the Broncos was Sydney Eskola with 50 and Mara Lauer with 51. Coopersville is in action again tomorrow at the Mines golf course.
On a tough night at Quail Ridge, the girls golf team finished 5th in the league jamboree. Mara Lauer was the team medalist with a career best 49! She was followed by Sophia Baker 50, Sadie Brink 51 and Alexa Davis 52. The Broncos are in action again tonight at Scott Lake
On Friday, the girls golf team traveled to Gracewil Golf Course in Grand Rapids for the 13 team Russ Johnsen Memorial Tournament. The team played very well in posting a season-low score of 369 which was good for 4th place, defeating such teams as West Catholic, Jenison, Kenowa Hills, East Grand Rapids, Forest Hills Eastern, and Grand Rapids Christian. Leading the way for the Broncos was Sophia Baker who medalled in 13th place overall with a career-best score of 88. She was followed by Alexa Davis who also medalled in 16th place with an 89. Sydney Eskola shot a career-best 92 to finish one stroke out the the medals. Rounding out the scoring for the Broncos was Mara Lauer who shot a career-best 100. The Broncos are in action again next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for league matches.
The golf team traveled to Moss Ridge to play in the first OK Blue Jamboree of the season. The Broncos played very well as a team scoring a season-low 180. They finished a very close 4th as 4 teams were separated by 5 strokes. Spring Lake was in 1st with 175, Northepointe Christian and Catholic Central were 177. Leading the way was Alexa Davis with a 43, she was followed by Sophia Baker with 45, Sadie Brink with 45 and Sydney Eskola rounded out the scoring with a 47. Rylie Camp had a personal-best 49 also for Coopersville.
The girls golf team played Thursday at Stonegate Golf Course in Muskegon Michigan. In another field loaded with Division 1 and 2 state finals competitors, the Broncos finished with a season best score of 395, good for 8th place. The Broncos were led by sophomore Alexa Davis with a round of 89. She was followed by junior Sophia Baker whose 97 was a career-best. Rounding out the scoring were Sadie Brink with 101 and Claire Hammond with a career-best 107. Rylie Camp also had a 107 for the Broncos.
The varsity girls golf team spent the day in Allendale today playing golf at The Meadows at GVSU in the Pupel Invitational. There were some outstanding teams there including defending state champions Forest Hills Northern, state runnersup Muskegon Reeths-Puffer to name just 2. The Broncos played very well in recording a score of 413 on a tough and long course. The Broncos were led by Alexa Davis who shot 94. She was followed by Sophia Baker with a 101, Sydney Eskola with a career-best 106 and Claire Hammond with a 112. They are in action again on Thursday at the Mona Shores Invitational.
The Broncos Girls Golf team teed off the fall sports season for 2018 with a tournament Friday at Oakridge Golf Club in Muskegon, MI. Playing in the rain that began about the 3rd hole and never quit, the Broncos managed a very good score of 407. The team was led by sophomore Alexa Davis whose personal best 88 was good for 6th place out of 72 golfers. Also scoring for the Broncos were senior Sadie Brink with a 101, junior Sophia Baker with 106 and sophomore Claire Hammond with a 112. The team is in action again on Monday August 20 at the Meadows for the Forest Hills Central Invitational.
Girls Golf Tryouts will take place Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week at Western Greens Golf and Country Club. Times will be 9 am Wednesday, 8 am Thursday and Friday.
