Girls Varsity Soccer

The Lady Broncos started off slow, managing nine shots in the first half and converting two of them for goals. Chloe Reeder took a deflected shot off the keeper and directed the ball into the goal for the first goal of the season. A few minutes later, Tessa Olthoff scored on an assist from Katelyn Messock. The Lady Broncos spent 80% of the first half on the offensive side of the field, but the ten day layoff from spring break was evident in their ability to finish shots on frame and turn them into goals.
After some adjustments at halftime, the team came out focused scoring just 24 seconds into the half when Olthoff drove the ball into the back of the net for her second goal, followed just 48 seconds later when Messock notched her first goal of the season doubling the halftime lead in just 72 seconds. Carli Harris would join the scoring party four minutes later, followed by Megan Pearce who came up to the box on a set play from her defender position and scored her first Varsity goal as a Senior. Another first Varsity goal followed as freshman Sydney Greer scored the teams 7th goal. Morgan Groesser closed out the final goal on a nice assist from Libby Kelly ending the game with around seven minutes remaining.
Mia Walker-Quintana earned the shut-out in goal stopping one shot.
The Lady Broncos open league play tomorrow at home vs. Allendale. JV kicks off at 5:00 PM, followed by the Varsity at 6:45.
